Integrate Cuedd with Shopify Store

This guide walks you through how to cue the latest Shopify sales or the sales conversions count of certain products from your Shopify store.

You should have already installed Cuedd Pixel tracking script in Shopify. If not, be sure it’s installed before proceed, which should only take about 2 minutes.

Workflow Overview

  1. A Shopify order is completed and paid for,
  2. Shopify sends a “message” to Cuedd with the order details,
  3. Cuedd receives, parses and stores the “message” from Shopify,
  4. A notification displays the latest conversion cue on your Shopify store!

Here is how it would look like:

Create the notification in Cuedd

  1. Go to an existing campaign or create a new campaign
  2. Click the Create Notification button
  3. Fill out the name of your new notification and select the type as either
    • Latest Conversion” or
    • Conversions Counter
  4. Click Submit to create the notification.
  5. Lastly, always make sure that the notification is enabled!

Configure Shopify

From the Shopify admin page, go to Settings and then access Notifications.

Scroll down to the Webhooks section and then, click the Create a webhook button.

Webhook 101
A webhook is a way for an app to provide other applications with real-time information, also called a web callback. A webhook delivers data, often in JSON format, to other applications as it happens, meaning you get data immediately.

In the Add a webhook modal above, we need to supply the URL for the webhook to send the notification.

Let’s go back to the conversion notification in Cuedd we created previously. in Settings, click Data tab.

Now make sure to copy the Webhook Trigger URL that is highlighted in the picture above.

Go back to the Shopify store and paste it in the URL field.

You can now select the Event of the Webhook, meaning when Shopify should trigger the execution of the webhook.

In this case, I selected “Order payment” because we want to track the latest order payments with Cuedd.

Make sure to select the Format to JSON and click Save webhook.

The final screen should look something similar to the following:

Test Notification

Click on the Send test notification button now.

Now, if we go back to the Notification in Cuedd and go to the Data page, we will see something like this:

You should be able to see that there is a new “Conversion” registered in Cuedd.

If you Click to get conversion data it will expand and show you the details of which you can use for the title and description for the notification.

Now, you can go to the Settings of the notification and configure your notification as you’d like.

You can see that the Title is using the {} variable from the conversion data and also that the Description is using the {} variable.

Webhook 101
Webhook delivers data usually in JSON but the variable names can vary. Shopify has the variable name for total price as {total_price}, in WooCommerce it has {cart_total}. It is recommended to check the conversion data to learn exactly what data has returned.
